Flavour and flair: Bursting onto Dubai’s social dining scene in 2015, Coya wasn’t the first Peruvian restaurant in Dubai but it certainly made the most impact. A restaurant, a lounge, a Pisco bar and a private members’ club, the concept manages to appeal to a wide demographic of diners and fun-seekers without losing its way.

Who goes there? Set in what is known as the Four Seasons restaurant village with the likes of Nusr-Et next door, this is a place that has continued to attract the city’s social set. No mean feat in a city as trend-driven as Dubai but not surprising given its constant reinvention, cultural activations and inviting ambiance.

Signature dishes: The menu, packed with Peruvian-inspired small plates, caters to both purists and those who aren’t too bothered about authenticity. The Lubina Clásica ceviche (sea bass, red onion, sweet potato and white corn) and the Pez Limón tiradito (yellow tail, green chilli and radish) are vibrant firm favourites and, although it may not be a hit with everyone, the Anticucho Tradicional (beef heart skewers) are earthy in the best way and definitely worth a try. For something more substantial, order the Solomillo de Res (spicy beef fillet with crispy shallots and garlic).

Other outlets? Originally founded in London’s Mayfair, Coya has several outposts in cities around the world including Paris, Monte Carlo, Mykonos, Abu Dhabi and Doha. The brand is set to cement its regional footprint with a Riyadh location opening in February 2022.
